Statement of Purpose
This merit based scholarship has been established as a way for Indy Pride, Inc. to reward future and current students attending an accredited Indiana-based university or college who are making significant contributions to the Lesibian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, and Straight Ally (LGBTQS) community through their academic pursuits. The scholarship also provides for those who identify as members of the LGBTQS community who have demonstrated a lack of support to attend an institute of higher education.
Once the application is released, the applicant will have approximately 30 days to submit. After the deadline, the Scholarship Committee, made up of members of the Indy Pride Board of Directors, will meet to begin vetting the applications and to verify letters of recommendations and enrollment. At the October Board of Director’s Meeting, verified applications will be distributed for evaluation to all members of the Board.
At the November Meeting, the Board will discuss all applications and decide which applicants will be awarded scholarships, and following the decision making process, the scholarships will be awarded at the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 17, 2012.
How Money is Distributed
Scholarship funds will be distributed directly to the university in the spring semester following the scholarship award, or if the recipient is a high school student, the fall semester of their freshman year.
You must wait one year before applying for an Indy Pride Inc scholarship if you received one previously. If you receive a scholarship in 2010 you can apply again in 2012. If you received on in 2011 you can apply again in 2013.
